The Refugee Sewing Society is a Christian ministry that empowers women from around the world who find themselves starting a new life here in Clarkston, GA. We strive to provide a safe, welcoming place where they can gather to sew, knit, crochet, weave and bead to create beautiful handmade items. The ladies who join us each week are from places like Afghanistan, Bhutan, Burundi, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Iraq, Nepal, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, Tanzania and Turkey. The women receive 60% of the sales price of the items they create enabling them to help provide for themselves and their families. The staff members who support these ladies are all volunteers from the community. The items made at The Refugee Sewing Society are for sale in our on-site shop, at events in the community and online.
